on random game-related merchandise

So I realized I had a rather… misleading title for my website (till now).
Allow me to just clarify that I’m not necessarily zoning out or blanking out constantly =p
However… I figured I’d make the title somewhat consistent with its Japanese counterpart, thus I’m calling this English version “alternative.”

Alright, on to what I meant to talk about.
Even though I am in possession of a PS2, NDS-Lite, and a PSP, it’s not like I’m that much of a hardcore gamer.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily stop me from buying (yes, you heard me right) games.
Not only that, but it seems my bro (who btw is living on the other side of the Pacific) acquired quite a few games as well.
So we came to the conclusion that I’d sign myself up for a Club Nintendo account, and accumulate points from both my own and my bro’s acquisitions.
As a result, I (we) ended up achieving platinum rank, which is rather cool. I had my hopes up high since one of the special gifts that platinum members got last year was an SNES Wii Classic controller – as in, a Wii Classic controller that looked virtually identical to an SNES controller.

Now, Nintendo seemed to disappoint me by giving me some… rather odd choices this year.
As with the past years, one of the choices was a set of (identical) calendars w/Nintendo characters – um, not thanks, I have enough calendars for next year already.
Another (less boring) choice was a golden steering wheel for Mario Kart – erm… no.
The final choice was a Mario cap. Yes, the red cap that Mario wears – hmm, now this is slightly more interesting…

Then the idea that popped in my head was that Mario cosplay Katsura did in the wii-related episode of Gintama. Hmm, (easy) cosplay idea for S-con? I think yes XD

on random political trivia

Usually my posts won’t consist of political material, simply because I don’t feel comfortable discussing political issues, especially if it’s something I don’t really have enough knowledge and/or confidence talking about it.
However, I found this to be somewhat amusing.

I was at a meeting at one of my workplaces, and we were having a casual conversation about the US elections. My supervisor was talking about Obama, so I mentioned that Obama City (in Fukui prefecture, Japan), was “unofficially” supporting Obama, just because (need I say more?)
Then, one of the other advisors mentioned how a company in Fukui City, a city near Obama, made the glasses Sarah Palin was wearing, and was thus (supposedly) supportive of the Republicans.
Coincidence? Probably, but yes, rather amusing.

On some other randomness: So is this what the cat at my old host family’s place was trying to do to me when she tried to hop on my legs or something?

procrastination is bliss…

Erm, no.

It’s sad how I end up procrastinating so much and never get stuff done on time.
Not to mention I don’t work well in the morning/afternoon.
Problem: I usually work at night, which of course means I can’t really get much done unless work is really, really slow.

I probably just need to find myself another daytime job. Well, actually… I’d love to work more hours at my current daytime job since the pay is just simply awesome – problem is that would never happen *sigh*

So I’ve been sitting in front of my computer for the past 3-4 hours or so with no progress whatsoever. I’d be surprised if I actually end up getting this done before I actually have to head to work…

after 2.5 months or however long…

Ain’t this such a great way to start the first post =p

Nonetheless, I’ll admit I was slacking off for the past 2.5 months, and for the longest time, the front page on this website said “I’ll be updating on or around August 25 (ie. after AE ’08).”
But then again, what *did* I do after AE again? Let’s see…:
- starting my new part-time job, and “helping” new students get started with their university career
- volunteering with orientations (aka dealing with more new students)
- class, class, class, work, more class, more work
Does that kinda make a point? I hope it does since working 30+ hours at a part-time job (at night too) doesn’t go that great when I have school (though I did get a very, very nice looking paycheck tyvm)

I *did* mean to get back to working on this website, though that simply didn’t happen till now.
So why *now* you may ask? It just took me this long to realize that I can get a decent page going in this style instead of hand-coding html (well, OK I *can* just use DW instead of typing out codes on notepad or the like, but me being lazy, I prefer not to deal with any more html than what I’m already doing)
In short: tyvm WordPress, for making my life easier

It does depress me that I haven’t been able to do much of the “creative” works that I’d like to do more of, though I’ve finished two music compositions – one I’ve been working on way before AE (heck I was actually attempting to do some recordings during AE but I failed miserably), and one I started in September and just finished about a week ago). And there’s NaNo going on right now, so let’s see if I’ll get through it in the next three weeks…
